Braves Hope to start off week on a good note After the Braves nightmare road trip to start the season, the hope was that returning home and a bit easier stretch of the schedule could lead to some better results. Well over their past 8 games, Atlanta is 4-4, which as better stretch than 0-7. But they still remain 7 games under .500 at 4-11, and though it clearly is far too early to come to any drastic conclusions, winning needs to start happening more frequently.
Among many aspects of the team that are not off to the best of starts, 2024 NL Cy Young winner Chris Sale has struggled when considering his usual production. The struggles continued on Sunday, though some bad luck contributed to the results. Without a doubt, there are other parts of the team that are of a bigger concern than Chris Sale. But if Sale can find his usual form soon, it will be a big boost for the team as a whole.
Braves News
Spencer Strider will likely make his 2025 season debut on Wednesday.
The Battery Power player of the week is Marcell Ozuna. Ozuna delivered the biggest hit of the season so far against the Phillies this past week and has been the Braves best hitter this year (hoping health is good after Sunday.)
AJ Smith-Shawver was optioned to the minors as the Braves recalled recently acquired reliever Michael Petersen to Atlanta.
Mark Bowman notes one positive from Sale’s start on Sunday, as his velocity returned to similar levels from 2024.
MLB News
It was a bittersweet Sunday for the Cubs. Off to a great start this year, the Cubs took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers over the weekend. However, they also learned that top starter Justin Steele will be out for the season due to elbow surgery.
Garrett Crochet took a no hitter into the 8th inning against his former team on Sunday.
The Dodgers and White Sox had previous discussions about a Luis Robert trade, but talks have stopped for now.
