Quadzilla returns to the mound for what is likely his final rehab start before re-joining Atlanta. There is a full slate of minor league games today with pitching dominating the headlines (no surprise there!). Over in Gwinnett, Spencer Strider is making what is likely his final rehab start while 2024 draft pick Owen Hackman, and the hard throwing JR Ritchie take the mound as well. Columbus has yet to announce their starter.
Schedule
Gwinnett Stripers at Norfolk Tide 12:05 PM EST

The headline for this one is Spencer Strider returning to the mound. In his last start Spencer struck out 8 over 5.1 dominant innings and was eventually removed from the game when he hit the 75 pitch count limit. Other plays to watch include Luke Waddell who has come out the games absolutely swinging the bat - hitting .333/.435/.410 over his first 10 games of the season. Joining him is Eddy Alvarez who, while hitting a meager .226, has an on-base percentage of .489 thanks to a gaudy 13 walks in 10 games.
Columbus Clingstones at Biloxi Shuckers 7:35 PM EST
COL: TBD
BIL: Tate Kuehner 0-1, 8.10 ERA
Streaming
David McCabe leads the charge, in a critical year for him, as he is hitting .417/.579/.750 over his first four games. Joining him in the players to watch would be Drew Compton who has struggled to start the season, amassing a line of .167/.286/.167 in his first three games. Rounding out the players to watch would be the newly acquired Carlos D. Rodriguez who has slashed .368/.400/.368 in his first four games as a Clingstone.
Rome Emperors at Bowling Green Hot Rods 7:35 PM EST
ROM: JR Ritchie 0-0, 4.50 ERA
BG: Marcus Johnson 0-1, 9.00 ERA
Streaming
Outside of starting pitcher JR Ritchie, there are some high performing bats to watch for the Emperors to start the year. E.J. Exposito, who was removed from the game last night and may not be available today, has gotten off to a good start hitting .267/.421/.533 - his loss would have a significant impact on the lineup. Also hitting the ball well is outfielder Patrick Clohisy, who got some run during spring training, and is hitting .389/.455/.444 in his first five games. Rounding out the top three would be shortstop Ambioris Tavarez who is hitting .235/.381/.471 in his first five games of the season.
Augusta GreenJackets at Hickory Crawdads 7:00 PM EST
AUG: Owen Hackman 0-0, 13.50 ERA
HCK: Caden Scarborough 0-0, 3.00 ERA
Streaming
Braves 2024 9th round draft pick Owen Hackman is making his second start of the season and is looking to rebound after a tough first start where he lasted just 2.2 innings and gave up five runs (four earned). The GreenJackets and their high variance offense, who had recently been held hitless for 15 consecutive innings, look to get back on track with left fielder Eric Hartman leading the charge hitting a robust .300/.364/.650 in his first five games. Carlos Monteverde, Owen Carey, John Gil, and Nick Montgomery are the four other key hitters on the roster who will be looking to end the slide for the GreenJackets.
