A nice respite, or a delay of your baseball fix? We had a Spring Training off day yesterday, which is a bit of a weird occurrence, but not what I’m asking about today.
Regular season off days, are, of course, a necessity. Not just for players, but also for teams to give their collective pitching staff a rest, and also to make it easier to schedule a 162-game season for an entire league. This isn’t a question about the value, utility, or frequency of off days.
But, you are a person that likely watches somewhere between a moderate and extreme amount of baseball, so off days are a break in the six-month routine that is the regular season. Are they a respite for you during the marathon of a season, or do you find yourself standing around with your hands in your pockets because you don’t know what to do with yourself during your regularly-scheduled baseball time?
For me, off days feel like a downgrade from a day game. During a day game, you still get your dose of Braves baseball, and then your afternoon and evening free to file your quarterly estimated taxes or whatever. But an off day drags a bit more. What about you?
