Atlanta Braves news and notes from Wednesday Well the talk of Braves Country has understandably become top prospect Drake Baldwin, as Sean Murphy is expected to at least miss the start of the season. The catcher spot had already been a major point of discussion, with Baldwin’s clear talent but Murphy’s expected grip on playing time at the position. While the injury could only keep Murphy out for a few weeks to start the season, it does feel like a good chance to give Baldwin some run, both as the likely best in-house option for winning now and to evaluate him against major league competition. Fangraphs’ ZiPS projects Baldwin to be about league average at the plate, with solid defense at the position, but his upside seems much higher if he can hit it.
