The former Braves hurler returns to the organization whom him originally signed. Former Atlanta Braves pitcher Huascar Ynoa has reportedly signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins, according to a report from SI’s Stephanie Apstein earlier this morning.

For Ynoa, this is a return to the organization that originally signed him as an international free agent in 2014. The Braves picked-up Ynoa before the trade deadline in 2017 for pitcher Jamie Garcia and catcher Anthony Recker.
Ynoa, who is still only 26-years-old, hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2022. He missed all of 2023 recovering from surgery on his right elbow and saw action in only 14 games in Atlanta’s minor league system last year.
In his career, Ynoa has pitched in 31 games, all with the Braves. The World Championship season of 2021 has been Ynoa’s most impactful at this point in his career, when he pitched in 18 games - including 17 starts - for Atlanta. He struck out 100 batters in 91 innings with a 107 ERA+.
He is also remembered for his time at the plate when he hit two home runs - including a grand slam in a May 4, 2021, victory over the Washington Nationals in which also pitched seven innings while allowing no earned runs.
Atlanta granted Ynoa free agency on November 22, 2024. He will now look to make a good impression with the Twins in hopes of returning to major league action in 2025.
