The two former Braves left-handers are among the top free agent pitchers left on the open market. With MLB’s 2024 Winter Meetings in full-swing, two former Atlanta Braves pitchers are amongst the hottest topics. Reports this afternoon indicate that the two left-handers continue to have a robust market.
First, it was ESPN’s Buster Olney reporting that the San Francisco Giants could be a team to watch for the services of Max Fried. The starting pitcher, who is one of the top starters remaining in free agency, has been linked with a bevy of teams including the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and New York Mets.
As we move forward in free agency, one possible fit worth watching: Max Fried and the Giants. He's being evaluated by contenders in the northeast, too, but some execs wonder what his preference will be if it comes down to SF vs. NYY/Mets/Red Sox.— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) December 9, 2024
Fried, who is a California native, has hypothetically been linked to other California teams throughout the off-season.
Jon Morosi of MLB Network chimed in on A.J. Minter, the long-time Braves reliever who is recovering from a hip injury that caused him to miss part of the 2024 season. Morosi indicates that Atlanta is interesting in bringing Minter back.
A.J. Minter is one of the most popular free agent LH relievers among teams at the @MLB Winter Meetings. The Braves would like to bring him back, and the Cubs and Rangers are among the clubs with interest. @MLBNetwork— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 9, 2024
The Texas Rangers have been a team linked to Minter, a Texas-native, in other reports.
The Braves have been quiet so far this off-season, but as history has shown, that can change at any moment.
Both Fried and Minter debuted with Atlanta in 2017.
