David McCabe had a strong game on Wednesday, while the struggling Ryan Bourassa pitched a clean inning during a wild game. After a Peoria loss on Tuesday, they won a shootout 12-11 on Wednesday, before a loss on Thursday. It was a quiet few days for Braves prospects as only four guys made an appearance since our last update. Let us take a look at how Braves prospects faired across the pair of games.
Drake Baldwin
Baldwin sat out Tuesday, but was back in the lineup at catcher on Wednesday, going 0-5 with a pair of strikeouts. He was back out of the lineup on Thursday. Overall in the AFL he is slashing .265/.324/.441 through 37 plate appearances.
Ryan Bourassa
Bourassa came in for the sixth inning of Wednesday’s wild 12-11 win, and was arguably the best pitcher for Peoria out of the six they used that day. In his inning of work he didn’t allow and hits or walks and struck out two, making him the only pitcher to go longer than just one hitter to not allow a base runner. It was a positive outing that he needed as he had been struggling in the AFL, and this drops him to a 15.75 ERA and 2.25 WHIP through four innings of work.
David McCabe
McCabe got a start at DH and went 0-3 with a walk on Tuesday, striking out in his three other plate appearances. Things went much better on Wednesday, also at DH, as he was 2-4 with a double, walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. He did not see action on Thursday. He is up to 23 plate appearances in the AFL, with a slash mark of .350/.435/.450.
Drew Compton
Compton went 0-4 with three strikeouts on Tuesday and then sat out Wednesday. He was back in on Thursday, and went hitless in three at bats, but walked and batted in two thanks to a sac fly. He is now hitting .167 with a .517 OPS for the AFL season.
