Maier struggled in another loss for the tumbling Javelinas There were a pair of games for the Peoria Javelinas dating back to Friday including a rough 14-4 loss to the Rafters back on Friday, and a 5-4 win against the Solar Sox. Let us take a look at how Braves prospects faired across the pair of games.
Drake Baldwin
Drake continued to get on base, though his torrid pace slowed down just a bit as the catcher / DH went 2-for-8 across the pair of games. In the game one loss to the Rafters, Drake got the game started with an RBI single in the top of the first which was, no surprise, up the middle at 103 MPH. Unfortunately for the Javelinas, pitching wasn’t on their side as they would go on to give up 14 runs and ultimately lose but Drake made his impact with an RBI single and a pair of flyouts. In the second game, the Javelinas would face the Solar Sox and would get the 5-4 win, Drake would go 1-for-4, once again, with a single. Across 7 games, Drake Baldwin aka Barrel Gawd™, is hitting .310/.375/.517 - continuing a very impressive season.
Adam Maier
It is not as rosy as a picture for Adam who struggled in his appearance for the Javelinas. Adam got the start in the disastrous 14-4 loss and had the line of 2.1IP 7H 6ER 2BB 1K, 1HR. Adam featured a four pitch mix with his sinker, changeup, curveball, and slider. Adam had a relatively quick first inning - inducing a double play for a scoreless frame of work but he struggled in the second giving up a pair of runs, and then came apart in his third inning of work including a yielding a two run homer to Caleb Durbin and a two RBI triple to Robert Hassell III. Adam has appeared in a pair of games for Peoria so far this AFL season and is unfortunately dead last in ERA coming in with a whopping 16.62 ERA. He has yielded eight earned runs over 4.1 innings of work on 12 hits, and has walked four while striking out four. This is an unfortunate slide as Adam finished the season strong with Rome, generating a 3.38 ERA in six games for the Emperors.
Isaac Gallegos
Isaac would appear in one game, and he would come in relief for Adam Maier in the loss to the Rafters. After coming in with a runner on third and one out, Isaac would strike out Ben Ross on three pitches going slider, slider, slider and picking up the huge second out. He would then walk Kristian Robinson on ten pitches, before getting Skyler Messinger to fly out to end the threat with a pair of runners on the corners. Isaac has now appeared in three games for Peoria and has struggled with his command. While he has an outstanding 17.2 K/9, he has a just as troubling 17.2 BB/9 rate - having walked SEVEN hitters across 3.2 innings of work. After a strong 3.2 BB/9 rate for the GreenJackets, Isaac has struggled with his command as he put up a 6.2 BB/9 rate for Rome, before really struggling in the AFL.
Landon Harper
Following Adam Maier, and Isaac Gallegos in that 14-4 loss to the Rafters was RHP Landon Harper who had really excelled with the Mississippi Braves in 22 games with a 1.41 ERA, and .182 batting average against. Unfortunately for Landon, he would suffer a similar fate to Adam in this game as he would put up a line of 3IP 5H 4R 3ER 1BB 1K himself. Landon has now appeared in a pair of games for Peoria and has a 4.50 ERA, 10.5 K/9, while walking 3 per 9.
