Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday Since we are in pretty much a deadzone for Braves news at the moment, I am going to make a quick pitch for signing Ha-Seong Kim on the free agent market. Now this must start with the caveat that he is recovering from a shoulder injury that is likely to see him activated shortly after Opening Day, and the Braves would have to feel comfortable with their projection of his recovery. With that being said, Kim has been a good defender at shortstop since coming stateside and has been a solidly average bat for the last three seasons. At shortstop, good defense with perfectly average offense is a really strong package, especially for a position that is difficult to acquire outside talent at. Kim also is unlikely to demand anything crazy on the free agent market, which may make him a better fit for the organization (which is running a very strong payroll, but has been reluctant to hand out massive free agent contracts) than a Willy Adames. Adames is probably a better player but will also likely receive a large long term contract somewhere in the range of Dansby Swanson’s, which may be harder to swallow.
Braves News
As we continue to await the offseason, when fresh Braves’ news can be produced, remember some great Braves news of the past.
MLB News
The Yankees punched their ticket to the World Series and will find out soon which of the other payroll behemoths they will face from the NL.
The Rockies are reportedly expected to drop payroll this offseason and will shop some of their contributors on the trade market.
Will Smith is expected to be available for the Dodgers in game 6 of the NLCS after x-rays were negative, despite a painful HBP in game 5.
