Marcell Ozuna is a finalist for the Hank Aaron award, which is MLB’s offensive MVP awarded in each league. He finished 2024 with an outstanding .302/.378/.546, with 4,7 fWAR as a designated hitter, and a 154 wRC+. An Atlanta Brave won this award as recently as last year, with Ronald Acuña winning after a monster season. Freddie Freeman won the award in the bubble year 2020. Former Braves Matt Kemp and Jose Bautista won in 2011 as members of the Dodgers and Blue Jays, respectively. You can vote for Ozuna at MLB.com/aaron.
Marcell sits 2nd in HR, 2nd in wRC+, 3rd in AVG 4th in RBI, 10th in fWAR, and 8th from last in SB among National League qualifiers. He flirted with a Triple Crown run for a portion of the season. Honestly though, this is Shohei Ohtani’s award to lose. Ozuna still had a great season, one which helped get the Braves to the postseason.
