A trio of former Atlanta Braves broadcasters are on the ballot for the 2025 Hall of Fame Three legendary Atlanta Braves broadcasters will be part of a 10-person group up for election for the Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence.
Long-time Braves broadcaster Skip Caray was added to the ballot along with John Sterling, who was a broadcaster for the Braves during the 1980’s before moving to the New York Yankees. They join former Braves player and broadcasting icon Ernie Johnson, Sr., who is a holdover from last year’s ballot, as nominees for the award.
Voting for the award is conducted by a committee of 13 prior winners of the award and three historians. This year’s winner will be announced on December 11, 2024 at the Winter Meetings.
Caray broadcast Atlanta Braves games from 1976 until 2007.
Johnson, Sr. broadcast games for the Braves, in both Milwaukee and Atlanta, from 1962 to 1999.
Sterling worked Atlanta Braves broadcasts from 1982 through 1987.
Other nominees for the Ford C. Frick Award are Gary Cohen, Jacques Doucet, Tom Hamilton, Duane Kuiper, Rene Cardenas, Mike Krukow and Dave Sims.
To be eligible for nomination, a broadcaster must work 10 consecutive season with a major league team, network or combination of the two.
