If there was ever a time to deliver, it’s right now. So this has been an astonishing day already and the good (?) news is that we still have one more game to go! Indeed, the Atlanta Braves are now in a position where if they want to go to San Diego for the Wild Card series then they absolutely must win this game against the New York Mets. There are no other options. There’s no tomorrow. They’ve got to get it done right here and now.
Here are the lineups for Atlanta:

Sean Murphy has been tagged in as Travis d’Arnaud will be starting this one on the bench. Other than that, this is the same group of guys who just got done scoring seven runs. More of that, please — this time, without the bullpen collapsing. If you’re wondering why Grant Holmes’s name is beside that “P” in the lineup graphic, well, take a looksie.
Here’s the lineup for the Mets:

The Mets aren’t exactly waving the whie flag with this lineup — Atlanta’s going to have to earn it against these guys and starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi. Lucchesi has only made one appearance for the big league team here in 2024 and he gave up five runs over 4.1 innings against the New York Mets. Again, this isn’t a white flag but the Braves will have to earn it. Hopefully they do so. See y’all on the other side.
