López, who is scheduled to start today’s game against the Kansas City Royals, has made 24 starts in his first season with Atlanta. He has a 2.03 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 128.2 innings pitched.
López had been on the IL since September 11 with a right shoulder ailment. He missed time August as well. In his first season with Atlanta, López has exceeded expectations after being signed as a free agent prior to the 2024 season. His 24 starts are the most in a single season going back to 2019.
Name an All-Star for the first time in his career this season, López was able to help the Braves fill the void left with starting pitcher Spencer Strider was lost for the season.
Brebbia had appeared in five games since being signed as a free agent by Atlanta on August 31 after being release by the Chicago White Sox. He allowed two runs and struck out nine in 6.2 innings since joining the Braves.
