Oh, this is going to be a day. If we’re going to figure out who wins the tiebreaker between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets, then we aren’t going to figure it out until Monday — assuming that these next two games actually end up mattering. Indeed, Joel Sherman of the New York Post is reporting that both today and Thursday’s games between the Braves and the Mets have been postponed due to the awful weather that is currently bearing down on the Atlanta metro area.
The Mets-Braves games today and tomorrow have been postponed, The Post has learned— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) September 25, 2024
The two teams are now scheduled to play a straight doubleheader starting at 1:10 pm E.T. this coming Monday. Yes, the plan is for both of these teams to play a doubleheader before one team (or possibly both) leaves town to go begin their Postseason journey. It’s all a possibility and it really makes you wonder why/how it even got to this point in the first place. I can understand being optimistic about the weather potentially drying up but there’s a difference between optimism and delusion.
Anyways, I hope everybody’s buckled up for what is very likely going to be an absolutely insane day on Monday.
