Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday. Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley is done for the season, regardless if the club makes a postseason run. Riley went on the injured list in mid-August with a fractured right hand, and his recent CT scan revealed his hand was not healed enough to eliminate the cast.

Riley suited up for the Braves 110 times this season and manufactured a .256 average while logging 960.1 innings at third base.
Tuesday’s news didn’t come as a huge surprise, but it is unfortunate, as the Braves continue to fight for a spot in the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Reds reinstated right-hander Ian Gibaut from the 60-day injured list. The club also placed RHP Julian Aguiar on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
