The Braves’ regular season is winding down and each game is getting more pivotal as they face the Marlins. The Atlanta Braves are taking on the Miami Marlins in the first game of a three game set as they sit two games behind the New York Mets in the Wild Card standings. This series could be pivotal in deciding whether they have a legitimate chance in overtaking the Mets once they face them starting Tuesday of next week.
Charlie Morton is pitching for the Braves and has been on fire. In his last seven starts he has a 2.68 ERA a solid 3.20 FIP to match. He has had forty-nine strikeouts to sixteen walks. This has all happened while hitter s have been a bit fortunate against him with a .327 BABIP.
The Marlins will have Valente Bellozo as their starter. He has been one of the luckiest pitchers in the league with a 5.08 xERA when is actual ERA is much lower at 3.70. That being said, the Braves did face him in early August and could only muster two hits off of him.
