Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday The Braves are in a really tough spot right now, on the outside of the playoff bubble and missing a horde of bats to injury. It is unclear whether they will get Austin Riley or Ozzie Albies back before the end of the season, Ronald Acuna remains out for the season, and Whit Merrifield is out for an unclear period of time. They are only 3 games behind the first wildcard spot, with a four-game cluster for three NL wildcard berths and a few teams lurking 6 games behind, so Fangraphs still gives Atlanta a roughly 60% chance of making the playoffs. That being said, the team has just lost so much talent this season, so it will be tough to grab one of those playoff berths.
Braves News
Whit Merrifield has a fractured foot from fouling a ball off of it, but may be available as soon as next weekend according to some reporting, after originally being told a 6 week timeline.
The Braves traded cash for Cavan Biggio from the Giants, adding a competent major league utilityman.
Spencer Schwellenbach had a rough start and the Braves lost solidly to the Blue Jays, 9-5, tying the series up.
MLB News
Teoscar Hernandez looks like he will avoid the injury list and appears likely to be available early this week after being hit on the ankle by a pitch.
The Angels put Kevin Pillar and Jo Adell on the IL, with a thumb sprain and oblique sprain, respectively.
The Marlins made an astonishing 11 roster moves Saturday morning, including Max Meyer to the IL.
Jeff McNeil will miss the rest of the regular season for the Mets with a wrist fracture, but might be able to return in the playoffs.
The Red Sox got Trevor Story back off the 60-day IL, after injuring his shoulder in April.
