The Mississippi Braves move to Columbus for the 2025 season. This evening the name of future Double-A affiliate for the Atlanta Braves was unveiled as the Columbus Clingstones. The Clingstones will begin play in Columbus, GA in 2025. It was announced in January 2024 that the Mississippi Braves would be moving to Columbus after 20 years in Pearl, MS.

The soon-to-be Clingstones are owned by the Diamond Baseball Holdings who purchased the team from the Atlanta Braves prior to the 2022. Diamond Baseball Holdings, which is owned by Endeavor, owns numerous teams in Minor League Baseball, including all of the Braves affiliates.
Next season all of Atlanta’s top MiLB affiliates will play in in or near Georgia with the Clingstones joining the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers and Single-A Rome Emperors in the state and the Single-A Augusta GreenJackets playing in South Carolina, just across the state line from Augusta, GA.
As for the team name, Clingstone is a type of peach. Although Columbus was known for its textile industry two generations ago, and is home to several large insurance companies, the new name for Columbus’ baseball team references Georgia being known as “the peach state”.
They will play in Synovus Park, previously known as Golden Park, which opened in 1926. The stadium is being renovated in advance of the 2025 season. Columbus had been without a minor league team since 2008.
