Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday The Braves’ rotation has been phenomenal this season, even as the offense has had its struggles. Saturday certainly illustrated those offensive struggles in multiple ways. The offense did not hit the ball well enough often enough, but even when they did, it didn’t necessarily convert to production, as Matt Olson’s homer ball was caught over the wall for an out. This has been familiar all season, with the offense simultaneously suffering underperformance and bad luck on batted balls. The pitching has bailed them out many times, but not Saturday.
Braves News
Demetrius dove into the incredible recent success of the Atlanta rotation, with dominance and consistency.
The Braves traded minor-leaguer Yuli Gurriel to the Royals for cash (probably very little).
The Braves were simply outplayed by the Phillies in a tough 3-0 loss that leaves their division hopes hanging by a thread.
MLB News
The Phillies activated reliever Jose Alvarado after Saturday’s game with the Braves. Mounds around the league shuddered in fear.
The Yankees are expected to activate Anthony Rizzo from the 60-day IL on Sunday, returning from a broken arm.
Clayton Kershaw is hitting the IL for the Dodgers with a bone spur in his toe. A timeline for his return is unclear.
The Royals DFA’d Austin Nola and former Braves prospect CJ Alexander, making room for waiver claims Tommy Pham and Robbie Grossman.
