Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday. The Atlanta Braves announced a flurry of roster moves ahead of Tuesday night’s NL East showdown with the Philadelphia Phillies. Most notably, the club added third baseman Gio Urshela, who was released by the Detroit Tigers earlier this week.
The #Braves today signed INF Gio Urshela to a major league contract and placed INF Austin Riley on the 10-day injured list, backdated to August 19, with a fractured right hand. The club then announced that Austin Riley is headed to the 10-day injured list, retroactive to August 19, with a broken hand. And finally, A.J Minter, who will require hip surgery, was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Urshela made his Braves debut in the hot corner on Tuesday, where he recorded two assists. Offensively, he logged an RBI via a bases-loaded walk.

The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Patrick Bailey on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. The move is backdated to August 19.
The San Diego Padres placed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to August 19, with shoulder inflammation.
The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Tyler Mahle on the 15-day injured list with shoulder stiffness. In a corresponding move, the club reinstated right-hander Jon Gray.
The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to August 17.
