One of the biggest series of the year begins tonight! The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies are going to play each other seven times over the course of the next couple of weeks before ending their regular season series with each other. For the Braves, these games are absolutely crucial since this figures to be a perfect chance for Atlanta to start gaining some serious ground on Philadelphia in the NL East race. While the Phillies are still in a relatively comfortable spot, things could get interesting if the Braves (and this version of the Braves, in particular) can start putting some pressure on them in the coming weeks.
It all starts tonight, as Reynaldo López will be going to the mound for Atlanta and the Phillies are sending Zack Wheeler out there. Tonight is also the Braves debut for Gio Urshela, who will be playing third base for Atlanta this evening following Austin Riley's trip to the IL. Atlanta's lineup continues to suffer from injuries but they are facing a Phillies team that may still be a bit wobbly — even after winning a four-game series against the Nationals. Hopefully the Braves will be able to live up to the occasion and give the home fans something to hoot and holler about at the ol’ ballpark tonight!
