Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday The Braves announced the return of their ace for Sunday before they lost a coin toss game to the Marlins. They may not have won Saturday’s game, but it wasn’t one of the depressing losses we saw too frequently over the summer and having one of their star pitchers back will be a huge boost as they look to take the series victory with a win on Sunday and hopefully continue to gain ground on the Phillies in the division. If Fried can come back healthy and performing, along with the slew of other injured players expected back this season for Atlanta, they still have the talent to make a run in the playoffs, even without their best hitter and pitcher. It is a testament to the quality of the roster built by this front office to be in the position they are, despite all the adversity this season.
Braves News
Max Fried will return to starting for Atlanta on Sunday in the Marlins series finale, having missed about 15 days. We also got an update on Reynaldo Lopez.
The Braves barely lost a game 4-3 that could have gone either way at home to the Marlins, with Grant Holmes starting.
MLB News
The Mets released Jake Diekman, who they gave $4 million to in the offseason, as he has had some brutal home run to fly ball rate luck this season, along with major control issues.
The Rays promoted Kameron Misner, as he replaced Richie Palacios, who is hitting the IL for 1-2 months with a right knee sprain.
Jacob deGrom is set to face hitters, after a set of successful bullpen sessions on his journey back from elbow surgery.
