The Stripers routed Nashville 11-2 on Friday. It was a bit of a short day down on the farm as 3 of the 6 games were rained out. However, there was still plenty of action, so let’s dive in.(50-56) Gwinnett Stripers 11, (55-50) Nashville Sounds 2

Gwinnett was firing on all cylinders on Friday night as the Stripers routed Nashville by an 11-2 final.
The Sounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead, scoring 1 run in the top of the first off of Gwinnett starter Zach Logue.
The Stripers would take their first lead of the game in the home half and would never look back. After Drake Baldwin laced a one-out double, Eli White singled into center field to tie the game at 1-1. Chadwick Tromp proceeded to reach on a fielder’s choice as White advanced to third base on an error on the play. Luke Waddell doubled home White to make it 2-1 before a Brian Anderson single scored Tromp to extend the lead to 3-1. Finally, Luis Liberato got in on the fun as he singled into right field to score Waddell to make it a 4-1 Stripers lead.
In the following frame, Nacho Alvarez Jr. doubled to lead off the second inning before a Baldwin single brought him home to extend the lead to 5-1. Baldwin would later come around to score on a Waddell groundout to extend the Gwinnett lead to 6-1.
Both squads went scoreless over the next 3 innings, Logue would allow an additional run in the top of the sixth as Nashville cut their deficit to 6-2. However, that would be the only damage Logue and the rest of the Stripers’ pitching staff would allow on the night.
Meanwhile, Gwinnett continued to pour it on. In the bottom of the sixth, Alvarez Jr. drew a leadoff walk and proceeded to advance to second on a groundout before stealing third base. A wild pitch would bring Alvarez Jr. home to make it 7-2.
Tromp, Waddell and Anderson managed to reach to load the bases before Luis Liberato unloaded them with a grand slam, extending the lead to 11-2 which would hold as the final on the night.

Mississippi won in exciting fashion on Friday night, as the Braves walked it off against Tennessee by a 7-6 final.
While Mississippi scored in the bottom of the first inning — as Cal Conley scored on a Yolbert Sanchez groundout — the Smokies jumped out to a 6-1 lead by the bottom of the fourth inning. Mississippi starter Drue Hackenberg allowed the 6 runs over 3 innings while striking out 6 on the night.
The Braves managed to tie things up in the home half of the fourth frame thanks to a big inning. Dean singled to start out the inning before advancing to third base on
a Sanchez reached on an error. KeShawn Ogans plated Dean on a single to make it 6-2 before a Bryson Horne fielder’s choice scored Sanchez to make it a 6-3 deficit. Sebastian Rivero proceeded to single home Ogans and 2 batters later, Brandon Parker singled on his own to bring home Horne to make it a 6-5 game. Then, Cal Conley singled to plate Rivero and tie the game at 6-6.
Neither team scored through the eighth inning before Mississippi finally broke through in the home half of the final frame.
Cal Conley drew a one-out walk and proceeded to steal second and then move up to third base on a wild pitch. Then, a single off the bat of Dean plated Conley to give Mississippi the lead and the 7-6 win.

Weather got in the way of Rome’s doubleheader on Friday, cancelling one game and postponing the other until Saturday which will be played as part of another doubleheader — weather permitting.

Things did not go in the favor of Augusta, as the GreenJackets lost by a 4-0 final on Friday.
Despite starter David Polo tossing 5 innings while striking out 9, the righty allowed 4 runs on the night which would prove to be too much for Augusta to overcome.
While the GreenJackets only tallied 6 hits on the night, Augusta actually managed to put a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the second. Junior Garcia doubled with 1 out before Will Verdung reached on a fielder’s choice as an error allowed Garcia to advance to third and Verdung to move up to second. However, Harry Owen struck out and Joe Olsavsky grounded out to end the inning.
The GreenJackets put a runner 90 feet away in the bottom of the third as Luis Guanipa reached third base but Augusta failed to bring home the run once again.
This would be a trend throughout the night as the GreenJackets were held scoreless in the loss.
