Atlanta Braves news and notes from Friday. The Atlanta Braves guaranteed a series split at the least after Friday’s 5-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Spencer Schwellenbach got the start; he started out shaky but then settled in to last seven innings with ten strikeouts.
The Braves were forced to overcome a three-run deficit, and it was no problem for the offense, which got rolling in the eighth. Jorge Soler recorded his first RBI as a Brave since 2021, and it was a huge one to tie up the ballgame.

The Texas Rangers placed righty Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list with fatigue in his right shoulder. In a corresponding move, the club recalled LHP Walter Pennington.
The Miami Marlins claimed right-hander John McMillon off waivers from the Kansas City Royals. The 26-year-old was recently designated for assignment by the Royals. The club also claimed outfielder Cristian Pache off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
San Francisco Giants left-hander Blake Snell no-hit the Cincinnati Reds and threw his first career complete game.
