Braves look to continue recent success | Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports
Jorge Soler will reportedly make his debut Wednesday as the Braves look to secure a series win. The Atlanta Braves have won three out of their last four games and will be looking to secure a series win Wednesday when they wrap up a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Braves have a slightly new look after adding former Braves Jorge Soler and Luke Jackson via a trade with Giants. Both players are expected to be in uniform for Wednesday’s game.

Chris Sale will be taking the mound on a Wednesday yet again in what seems to be a regular occurrence, while Freddy Peralta will be on the rubber for the Brewers. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out because we know that Sale has had no issue preventing runs from scoring, but Peralta has been much streakier. Peralta has had 10 starts where he has given up two earned runs or less, but he also has four starts where he has given up more than three earned runs. In terms of adjusted ERA (ERA+), this is Peralta’s worst since 2019.
Austin Riley has seen the most success against Peralta. He has eight at-bats against him and holds a .500 batting average and 1.431 OPS against him. Orlando Arcia and Sean Murphy have also had success with 1.833 and 1.167 OPS respectfully, but neither player has more than three at-bats against him With so few at-bats, it is hard to draw any true conclusion as to what the future may hold.
Marcel Ozuna has seen Peralta the most with fifteen at-bats, but he has not had much success. He has a .200 average and .545 OPS against him.
It will be interesting to see which mix of outfielders that Brian Snitker goes with tonight with Soler now here. Duvall has crushed lefties, but struggled mightily against righties (Peralta is a righty). Rosario has faced Peralta seven times and has a .000 OPS. Whit Merrifield claims to be good to go, but he could potentially play second base and also has struggled to a .453 OPS in six at-bats against Peralta. Laureano is 0-1 against him with two walks.
We can make the educated guess based on beat writers’ tweets that Soler will be in RF. He is 1-2 with a single against Peralta. We can also assume Kelenic is likely to get the start, and he has never faced him.
Interestingly, only three players on the Brewers active roster have ever faced Chris Sale in his extensive career. Willy Adames has faced him in eight at-bats and owns a .125 average and .625 OPS. The other two players that have seen him are Eric Haase and Gary Sánchez who are both catchers, so odds are Sale won’t face both of them tonight unless one gets a start at DH.
Haase has four at-bats and has a .250 average with a .500 OPS. Sánchez has seen Sale quite a bit with twenty-three at-bats. He has struggled to a .174 average and .391 OPS in this time.
The Braves, although have struggled, have gained two and a half games on the Phillies since July fifth. The Brewers are six games up on the Cardinals who just made some splashy moves at the deadline.
First pitch is at 2:10 ET and the game can be seen on Bally Sports South.
