The injuried Braves starter is showing positive signs toward returning to the mound. Prior to today’s game against the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried was seen doing long-toss in the outfield, a promising sign that the injured Braves ace could be on a path to return early next month.

Fried, who is a free agent after the season, was placed on the IL on July 21, 2024, with left forearm neuritis. An All-Star for the third time in his career this season, Fried had started 18 games for Atlanta, providing them with 108 innings with a 1.16 WHIP.
Fried would be eligible to be activated from the IL this upcoming Friday, although the team has not yet stated wither or not they expect him to be ready.
