Atlanta Braves news and notes from Wednesday Well this season is not going very well right now for Atlanta, with massive underperformance, bad batted ball luck, wildly bad injury luck, and even the weather. That being said, the team is somehow above .500 and in a playoff spot. As we’ve seen recently, anyone can get hot in this expanded playoff format. Regardless of playoff results, however, this emphasizes the need for us as fans to enjoy when things are going like they went pretty much all of last season. Even though the playoffs didn’t go well, we were treated to 6 months of awesome players doing cool and historic stuff as part of a historically good team. This season should be a lesson that nothing on paper guarantees that and we should appreciate those times while they are here, even if it ends on a bitter note.
Braves News
Comcast and Diamond Sports Group have reportedly made substantial progress towards a deal to bring the Bally RSN networks back to the service.
Our prospect team continued to release their best in the business Braves top 30 prospect list, with 18-13 on Wednesday.
The Braves made a couple of roster moves to cap off the day, returning Daysbel Hernandez to AAA, and optioning Zach Logue.
Earlier in the day, the Braves brought up Logue, optioning Alan Winans and placing Michael Harris on the 60-day IL.
Ivan shared his takeaways from an awful weather-shortened mini-series at home against the Reds that went poorly for Atlanta.
The second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader that was the result of a rain out was...rained out and postponed to September.
Winans struggled in his start during the afternoon game and the middling performance from the offense was not enough to overcome.
MLB News
The Phillies are reportedly interested in some lower level options at the deadline to bolster their roster for the playoffs.
The Giants reinstated their big contract starter Robbie Ray off the 60-day IL and he was quite impressive in his first start back, with 5.0 innings of 1 run ball and 8 strikeouts.
The Dodgers signed veteran infielder Nick Ahmed to a major league deal, as Miguel Rojas hit the IL.
The Red Sox extended manager Alex Cora with a 3 year deal worth around $7 million per year.
MLB and the MLBPA agreed to redirect some luxury tax money to teams losing money due to the ongoing RSN issue.
Christian Yelich will see a spine specialist Thursday and may end up needing season-ending back surgery.
