The Atlanta Braves placed Austin Riley on the paternity list Tuesday and recalled infielder Luke Williams. Riley left Tuesday’s game in the ninth inning to be with his wife Anna, who went into labor with their second child.

Brian Snitker said after the game, that Riley missed the birth of his first child and wanted to make sure that he was there for the second one. Riley was seen giving high fives to his teammates as he headed to the clubhouse after exiting. Williams was in the dugout during pregame so the Braves knew that it was coming soon. Players can be on the paternity list for a maximum of three games.
Williams has played sparingly over a couple of stints on the active roster. He’s appeared in 13 games and is 1-for-12 at the plate with three runs scored. He was hitting .287/.348/.508 with a 117 wRC+ in 46 games with Gwinnett.
