The Braves take another injury hit with Ozzie Albies going down for at least two months. The news wasn’t expected to be good and it isn’t. The Atlanta Braves announced that Ozzie Albies has a fractured left wrist and is expected to be out of action for approximately eight weeks. Albies suffered the injury while trying to tag a runner during the ninth inning of Sunday’s loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Brian Snitker confirmed after the game that Albies would be placed on the injured list, but the severity of the injury wasn’t known at that time. The Braves are reportedly planning to promote infield prospect Nacho Alvarez to take Albies’ place on the active roster.
This will be Albies’ second stint on the injured list this season. He suffered a fractured toe on April 15 and went on the injured list before returning April 26. Albies set new career-highs with 33 home runs and a 124 wRC+ in 2023, but entered Sunday hitting just .255/.308/.403 with eight homers and a 98 wRC+.
