The DSL Braves came up short in the Braves only MiLB contest on the day. While a majority of Atlanta’s minor league teams are still on break, the DSL squad was in action on Wednesday, but ultimately came up short.
(9-20) DSL Braves 2, (8-22) DSL Padres Brown 9
Michael Baez, 1B: 2-3, 2 R
Manuel Dos Passos, C: 1-2, RBI
Edward Cedano, SP: 1.2 IP, H 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
Box Score
In the first of two scheduled games on the day, the DSL Braves fell to the Padres by an 8-2 final in 7 innings.
After both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, the Padres pounced in the bottom of the second inning. In total, the Padres would score 8 runs in the inning with 4 of those coming off Braves starter Edward Cedano who lasted all of 1.2 innings on the day. Leading 8-0, the Padres would score an additional run in the home half of the third to extend their lead to 9-0.
In the top of the fourth, the Braves finally got on the board. After Michael Baez and Manuel Dos Passos laced back-to-back singles to start the inning, Joan Acevedo notched a single of his own into left field to cut the deficit to 9-1.
In the top of the sixth, Michael Baez led off with his second single of the game and proceeded to advance all the way to third on back-to-back wild pitches. Then, Dos Passos came through with a sac fly into center field to plate Baez to make it 9-2.
However, that would be the only offense the Braves would get in this one as they fell in game one on the day.
(9-20) DSL Braves 0, (8-22) DSL Padres Brown 1 (SUSPENDED)
Michael Martinez, RF: 1-1
Yander Pinero, SP: 2.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Box Score
What was originally intended to be a makeup game from June 4 would ultimately have to be suspended once again as Mother Nature had other ideas.
Both the Braves and the Padres went down scoreless in the first two frames before the Padres scored 1 run off Braves starter Yander Pinero in the top of the third inning.
That would be all the action in this one as play was suspended in the top of the third.
