The pitching theme continues as the Braves have selected a pitcher in 9 of the 10 rounds. The Braves got off to a hot start last night drafting the lottery talent Cam Caminiti with the 24th pick of the draft. Cam, one of the youngest players in the draft after reclassifying, was projected as a lottery pick for the 2025 draft but he found a new home in Atlanta last night. With the expectation that Cam would go over slot, the Braves selected another intriguing arm in Vanderbilt’s Carter Holton. Like Cam, Carter is a left handed starting pitcher with a four pitch mix, but did struggle with injuries in his final year in college. Despite the injury, the Braves saw talent in the arm and went picked him with their second selection of the day. Today, we turn our focus to rounds 3-10 so let's take a look at who the Braves took.
No. 99: Luke Sinnard - RHP, Indiana
Out of the University of Indiana, the Braves go with their third pitcher of the draft in Luke Sinnard. Sinnard is an imposing pitcher on the mound standing at 6’8” and 250 pounds. Sinnard has a four pitch mix (FB, CB, CH, CU), with his fastball sitting in the low-to-mid 90s.
While he won't toe the rubber this spring for the Hoosiers, RHP Luke Sinnard (@IndianaBase) is an arm to be familiar with come July. Began his college career at Western Kentucky, but blossomed last year as a Sophomore at Indiana and pitched his way to a 4.27 ERA with 114 Ks (led… pic.twitter.com/tfpwH8mkMk— Peter Flaherty III (@PeterGFlaherty) January 18, 2024
Signability
As a Junior, coming off major injury, there should not be any issues signing Luke.
No. 129: Herick Hernandez - LHP, Miami
From the University of Miami, Herick is the Braves fourth pitcher drafted this year with a four pitch mix (FB, CB, SL, CH) and another LHP. Herick is another undersized (5’10”) pitcher the Braves have picked.

Signability
Herick is likely an underslot signee with no issues of signing.
No. 161: Nick Montgomery, C, Cypress Hill HS
The Braves take their first position player of the draft as they pick C/1B Nick Montgomery. Standing at 6’4” and 210 pounds it remains to be seen if Nick stays at catcher, but if he does he has a good arm that can help limit the run game. His hit tool is raw but he has significant raw power that could give him tremendous value especially if he sticks at catcher.
CRUSHED! Nick Montgomery (@nick2montgomery) jumps on the breaking ball and hammers a 2-run home run over the wall in left field. #FiveToolPower @CypCentBaseball (CA) 2024 • @ASU_Baseball signeeProfile: https://t.co/cZZZZS0YFy pic.twitter.com/CtfSLXPHYg— Five Tool California (@FiveToolCA) April 23, 2024
Signability
Despite being a prep player, there are no concerns with signing Nick.
No. 191: Ethan Bagwell, RHP, Collinsville HS
The Braves return to pitching ranks with RHP Ethan Bagwell out of Illinois. Ethan features 3 pitches (fastball, slider, changeup) with the fastball touching 97 MPH (in high school!) but sits more in the low 90s. His slider is a solid pitch, and his changeup is currently below average and will need some work.
Really liked Ethan Bagwell & the draft upside here. Huge get for the Braves who’ve added a couple of future impact arms from the HS side. FB has SNK traits w/ a plus SL. Knows how to pitch. Good get for Braves PD#PGDraft x #MLBDraft // #BravesCountry pic.twitter.com/yQiGlBwJZU— Tyler Kotila (@tyler_kotila) July 15, 2024
Signability
Slight risk, as Ethan is likely an over slot draftee but no real concern - should sign.
No. 221: Brett Sears, RHP, Nebraska
The Braves go back to where they nabbed Spencer Schwellenbach and take RHP Brett Sears from the University of Nebraska. Sears sits in the low 90s with his fastball and also features a slider and changeup. Sears is considered a pitchability over stuff pitcher with good command.

Signability
As a fifth year senior this is a money saving pick - there are no concerns with him signing.
No. 251: Logan Samuels, RHP, University of Montevallo
Samuels is a senior out of Division 2 school Montevallo with a low 90s fastball. Logan appeared in 14 games his senior year (13 starts) and had a 5.43 ERA while striking out 10.41 per 9 and walking 2.26 per 9. He did, however, have a 10.26 H/9 rate which resulted in a 1.39 ERA.
.@UMoTownBaseball RHP Logan Samuels has been drafted in the 8th round by the Braves. This past season for the Falcons, Samuels threw 59.2 IP and struck out 69 batters to just 15 walks. Samuels is a senior and the Braves should not have any issues signing him.
No. 281: Owen Hackman, RHP, Loyola Marymount University
Owen is another senior, this time out of Loyola Maramount where he went 7-3 in his senior year with a 3.69 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with a 10.11 K/9 and 3.33 BB/9 rate. Owen has a 3 pitch mix with a low 90s fastball.
Owen Hackman is an interesting college SP w/ 2024 draft eligibility.He has three plus offerings with a FC on the way.Great competitor too!FF: 92-94 (22 iVB, 14HB)CU: 83-85 (death ball)CH: 87-89 #RestoreTheRoar pic.twitter.com/GeoZk6tdVG— Remi Bunikiewicz (@RBunikiewicz) March 2, 2024

Owen is another senior sign that the Braves should not have issues signing.
No. 211: Jacob Kroeger, LHP, Maryville University
With the final pick of day 2, the Braves take another pitchability prospect in Jacob Kroeger out of Maryville University. Jacob is another fifth year senior who made 16 starts his final season with a 3.18 ERA, 11.61 K/9, and 3.67 BB/9 rate.
Signability
As a fifth year senior, there are no concerns of the Braves ability to sign Jacob.
