The present and future of the Braves was impacted by talented left handed arms on Sunday. As Chris Sale ended an absolutely awesome first half of his first season in Atlanta with his 13th win of the season in San Diego, the Braves also made a big addition to their future with the first round selection of left-handed pitcher Cam Caminiti.
It was a significant day for the Braves on and off the field, and a successful one as well. Atlanta ended the first half of the season going 6-4 across ten games against the Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Padres. All three of these teams are ones the Braves are battling for playoff position in the NL playoff picture, and Atlanta once again found success through their pitching, finishing with the best team ERA in baseball for the first half of the season.
But even more importantly is the fact that Atlanta scored 5+ runs in eight of those ten games, and if that trend can continue into the second half of the season, times could get better for Atlanta when it comes too consistency. But the focus now for the Braves is to enjoy seeing a few of their best represent the team in the 2024 All-Star Game.

The Braves selected left-hander Carter Holton from Vanderbilt in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Marcell Ozuna will be representing the Braves in the All-Star game and in the 2024 Home Run Derby on Monday. Justin Toscano of the AJC highlighted several examples of why Ozuna is considered such a good teammate by his fellow Braves.
Travis d’Arnaud had a HUGE day in the Braves win as he hit two home runs and produced his third career stolen base.
Cam Caminiti is likely a familiar name for Braves fans, as he is the cousin of the late Ken Caminiti, who ended his career with Atlanta in 2001.
David O’brien looked at the Braves starting rotation getting deserved All-Star recognition, but also that the inconsistency of the lineup has to improve in the second half of the season.
