Atlanta Braves news and notes from Friday. The Atlanta Braves snapped a two-game skid after Friday’s 6-1 win over the San Diego Padres.
Marcell Ozuna’s two home runs were the highlight of the night, getting him to 26 on the year to accompany his National League-leading 77 RBI. He now has more RBI before the All-Star break than any Braves player in the Atlanta era.

Things went well on the other side of the ball, too, as Spencer Schwellenbach turned in seven innings of one-run ball to earn his third win of the year.

The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated left-hander Marco Gonzales from the injured list after a forearm strain. The Pirates acquired Gonzales from Atlanta in the offseason.
The Philadelphia Phillies released veteran Whit Merrifield, who joined the team in the offseason on a one-year, $8M deal.
Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates will start the All-Star Game for the National League. Skenes was drafted number one overall in 2023.
The Washington Nationals placed third baseman Nick Senzel on release waivers after he was designated for assignment last Saturday.
