Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday The Braves won 2-1 in extra innings and while Adam Duvall got to play hero, the pitching staff has been saving the day for Atlanta all season. Offseason additions to the rotation, Chris Sale and Reynaldo Lopez have both been spectacular, while retentions to the bullpen, Pierce Johnson and Joe Jimenez have been steady anchors. The team’s pitching staff has been fourth in baseball in fWAR, missing the preseason Cy Young favorite for most of the year, and that includes some brutal starts from sixth starters and two abominations from Max Fried to start the season. While the offense has struggled to consistently produce for the last two months, the pitching has held down the fort and kept the team afloat.
