Sean Murphy moves up to the six-hole after his two-homer outburst on Wednesday; it’ll be his fourth time hitting sixth this season, and he hasn’t hit higher than fifth so far this year.
Jarred Kelenic and Ozzie Albies have never faced Rodon before; the exposure for the rest of the lineup has been incredibly limited:

This is a new lineup for the Braves, giving them 47 in 73 games once this one kicks off. The Braves are also 2-0 with this specific starting nine in these positions, so it’ll be nice if they can push it to 3-0 tonight.
The Yankees, meanwhile, roll out a lineup where, as usual this season, it’s all about Aaron Judge and Juan Soto:

Ben Rice and Jahmai Jones are two relatively unfamiliar names and have each gotten only a handful of PAs so far this season. Alex Verdugo is sitting this one out, hence Jones’ starting assignment; Jones has -0.8 fWAR in his career in 110 PAs spanning parts of four seasons. Rice raked in both Double-A and Triple-A this year before acceding to the first base role following Anthony Rizzo’s injury.
Suffice to say, this is a new arrangement for the Yankees all-around. Somewhat surprisingly, the team will have only used 28 different starting nines and 44 different lineups all season, despite having a lot of not-particularly-effective pieces on their roster.
Only five guys in this lineup have ever faced Chris Sale, and weirdly, Jones is one of them (two called strikeouts). Aaron Judge has 34 career PAs against Sale and has hit him decently well (.323 wOBA, .346 xwOBA) but has only taken him deep once, back in 2018. DJ LeMahieu has absolutely tormented Sale in their 10 career head-to-head PAs; Sale has failed to retire him in any of their last six matchups, and those 10 PAs are comprised of three strikeouts, two singles, two doubles, and three homers. Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto have each faced Sale a few times, with Soto collecting a homer amid four strikeouts, and Stanton with nothing more damaging than a single.
