Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday. Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution provided a promising update on Atlanta Braves pitcher Ian Anderson, who underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2023.
Ian Anderson (Tommy John rehab) threw live batting practice on Monday. He's expected to do it again in a few days. No word on when a rehab assignment will start, but it seems Anderson is getting closer.— Justin Toscano (@JustinCToscano) June 11, 2024
The surgery typically requires a recovery period of 12-18 months, so a rehab start may not be too far off.
Anderson had an unforgettable 2021 in Atlanta and came up huge when the Braves won the Fall Classic. He has since declined and been swapped between Triple-A and the big leagues. Hopefully, Anderson will return to his pre-injury stats and work his way back into the starting rotation.
More Braves News:
There was nothing going for the Braves in Baltimore, resulting in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss to the Orioles.
After missing a few games due to undisclosed reasons, Nacho Alvarez has returned to Double-A Mississippi’s lineup. More in the Braves Prospects Weekly Report.
Per the transaction log, catcher Drake Baldwin has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 23-year-old has put together 47 hits in 193 Double-A at-bats this season.
It’s the last call to submit your questions for the upcoming Braves Mailbag.
