Atlanta Braves news and notes from Saturday The offense continued to entirely fail to get the job done, as the Braves made a peripheral roster move, sending Jimmy Herget to the 15-day IL for Daysbel Hernandez. Hernandez pitched the eighth inning and did fairly well, recording two strikeouts and one walk, but could be a candidate to be sent down for Waldrep on Sunday. For results, however, the offense simply has to start scoring more runs. This cannot be emphasized enough. There were many bad aspects of how Atlanta played on Saturday, but one of the most talented offenses in the game, the Braves’, has been one of the least productive offenses in baseball for about six weeks now. A big part of that has been some rotten batted ball luck and changes to the ball, but the team is simply not good enough right now and the offense is not fun to watch either. Hopefully their execution and luck can turn it around soon and back up what has been very good pitching overall.
Braves News
Hurston Waldrep will be promoted and make Sunday’s start for Atlanta. The 2023 first rounder has a lot of hype and one of the best individual pitches in baseball in his splitter, but is not without questions.
The Braves shuffled their bullpen depth, as Daysbell Hernandez was promoted to replace the injured Jimmy Herget.
Atlanta again just had a brutal game in a 7-3 loss, with the offense continuing to be hapless (and unlucky), and the defense suffering as well.
MLB News
Former top trade candidate and now veteran-coming-off-tommy-john Matthew Boyd worked out for about half the league Friday.
The Marlins called up former Braves’ farmhand Roddery Munoz to replace the injured Ryan Weathers.
The Rangers are working on an extension with their GM, Chris Young, who has helped them build a good team down in Dallas.
