d’Arnaud back in the lineup | Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports
Travis d’Arnaud is back in the lineup as Spencer Schwellenbach toes the rubber The Atlanta Braves are taking on the Red Sox in the finale of a two-game set. The Braves’ offense was able to get things going yesterday when they put up at least eight runs for only the eleventh time this season.
They also won there first game since April 28th in which the opponent scored more than two runs.
Well if the Braves win this game, they’ll do something they haven’t done since April 28th (38 days ago) win a game where the opponent scores more than 2 runs— Stephen (@b_outliers) June 5, 2024
This afternoon, the Braves face Nick Pivetta, who they have had success against. Matt Olson (.885 OPS), Austin Riley (.856), and Adam Duvall (.889) have all had success against Pivetta in their careers. But none of them compare to Orlando Arcia and Marcell Ozuna.
Ozuna has twenty-six at-bats against Pivetta and has six HRs, .308 average, and 1.296 OPS. Arcia has fewer at-bats with only seven, but they have been fantastic. Arcia has two HRs, .857 average, and 2.732 OPS. These numbers were not a typo.
d’Arnaud is back in the lineup, which is likely due partly to the nasty HBP Sean Murphy took off of his elbow yesterday.

With Schwellenbach making his second start of the season, none of the Red Sox have faced him before. However, but there are a few players to keep an eye on. Rookie Wilyer Abreu and journeyman Rob Refsnyder both have a 134 wRC+ over the past two weeks. Abreu was placed on the IL today and will not be in the lineup. Unfortunately for Schwellenbach, the Red Sox have four regulars with an wRC+ over league average over the past two-weeks (Rob Refsnyder, Rafael Devers, Dominic Smith, and David Hamilton). Tyler O’Neill was activated today from the IL and he has had a solid season with the bat prior to his injury with a 129 wRC+.

Red Sox Lineup
It is possible that this could be a high scoring affair. If it is high scoring for both teams, hopefully the Braves can make the their winning streak two of winning a game where their opponent scores more than two runs.
First pitch is at 1:35 ET
